Overview

A laser treatment for sun-damaged skin, fine lines, and wrinkles. Fotona’s precisely controlled Nd:YAG and Er:YAG laser lights safely penetrate into the skin to effectively perform light touch-ups to deep, age-erasing optical peels.

What are peels?

As we age, our skin cells begin to loose moisture and collagen production is reduced. Peels are treatments used to improve and smooth the texture of the skin, removing wrinkles, enlarged pores, and spots. During a laser peel, the superficial layers of the skin are gently removed to promote regeneration of the skin, resulting in a smoother more youthful look.

What are laser peels?

Laser peels can remove nearly all fine wrinkles, while significantly improving deeper, more dynamic wrinkles. The laser bean gently vaporizes micron-thin layers of the epidermis while thermally affecting deeper skin layers to stimulate the production of new collagen in the dermis.

Why choose a laser peel?

With laser peels the operator has the ability to completely customize the treatment, by controlling the depth and region of your treatments. This results in a treatment catered specifically for your needs.

What is a Fractional Peel?

A Fractional Peel is a simple 3-step procedure optimized to significantly improve skin smoothness and give it a fresher, healthier look. It is a gentler alternative for treating fine lines and wrinkles with minimal downtown and clean natural results. Using fractional light to rejuvenate the skin can produce an effect that is perfectly graded to your expectations. Treatments can extend from light touch-ups to deep collagen remodeling, ideal for those who want drastic rejuvenation effects, but are not inclined towards aggressive surgical or chemical alternatives.

How does Fractional Peel work?

With Fractional Peel, the laser light precisely targets only ares of the skin where skin ageing has occurred, leaving the surrounding healthy skin untouched. The heat from the laser energy also stimulates the production of new collagen in the dermis because the surrounding, untreated skin speeds the rejuvenation process. This treatment is suitable for all types and tones, with minimal patient downtime.

Fractional Peel is performed in three simple steps:

  • Step 1: Conditioning

    • An Nd:YAG beam is passed along the surface twice. The first pass provides a short stimulus to the skin, the second pass penetrates the tissue, causing deep FRAC3 healing and conditioning the skin for effective fractional treatment therapy.

  • Step 2: Fractional Therapy

    • Old, worn-out skin is ablated away by a fractional Er:YAG laser. The precise micro-ablated channels will be replaced with new, tighter and healthy tissue as the new skin forms.

  • Step 3: Peeling

    • The skin is ablated with a light full Er:YAG beam, which finishes the treatment and removes superficial imperfections. Er:YAG and Nd:YAG wavelengths have complementary effects on the skin. The deep heating of the Nd:YAG beam helps rejuvenate and stimulate the skin, while the Er:YAG beam helps the body form new, tighter skin. In addition, the ability of Er:YAG lasers to resurface the skin with a variable amount of coagulation has long been recognized as enabling a versatility of treatment styles which are impossible to achieve with any other skin rejuvenation technology.

What can I expect from the treatment?

Each person is different, but during the treatment you can expect minimal to mild discomfort. Immediately following the treatment, you may experience some redness and a sunburn like sensation, depending on your customized treatment settings. Most patients can resume their daily activities immediately as the mild redness and and sunburn like sensation will only last for a few hours. Some more aggressive treatments may have redness and mild swelling for 2-3 days. It is best to avoid direct sun for a few days following treatment and to apply sun screen at all times while outdoors.
